Wednesday, 2018, September 12

The Executive Secretary of LCBC and Head of Mission of the Multinational Joint Task Force, Ambassador Mamman Nuhu, received on Monday, 10 September 2018, a delegation from the Regional Intelligence Fusion Unit (RIFU), at the LCBC headquarters, Place de la Grande Armée - N’Djamena.

The delegation was led by Dr. Mintya Denis Paul, Coordinator of RIFU. Colonel WD. Nasiru and Messrs. Ebeku Christopher and SM Goni were also part of the delegation. They particular discussed with the Executive Secretary and his military staff ways and means of further strengthening cooperation between LCBC and RIFU. The recently validated Regional Stabilisation Strategy for the Lake Chad Basin areas affected by Boko Haram was the major topic of discussion.

The contribution of RIFU to the successful implementation of this regional strategy was raised, particularly with regard to the sharing of intelligence products and the development of a safe and secure environment, which is the essential foundation of this strategy comprising nine fundamental pillars.

RIFU is headquartered in Abuja, Federal Republic of Nigeria. It should be noted that RIFU is a regional international government organization, established by the intelligence services of Benin, Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria and Chad, all involved in the fight against Boko Haram. It was set up in July 2014, following the Paris Summit on Security in the Lake Chad Basin in May 2014, with the aim of strengthening security cooperation between the five member countries.
