To promote transitional justice in the region, the LCBC, within the framework of implementation of the RS SRR, commissioned a study on transitional justice practices across the affected countries in 2023. This study examined both formal and informal justice mechanisms and informed the development of a Policy Framework for Transitional Justice, which was validated at a regional workshop in June 2024 in Yaounde, Cameroon, and was approved in September 2024 by the Steering Committee of the RS SRR at the 5th meeting held in N’Djamena, Chad.

Subsequently, the LCBC Council of Ministers mandated the Executive Secretariat of the LCBC to lead the development of a Regional Transitional Justice Policy. It is thus within this context that the LCBC intends to recruit a consultant to support the process of preparing the Regional Transitional Justice Policy for the Lake Chad Basin region.
