Lake Chad Management Improvement Support Project (UNDP-GEF)
The Lake Chad Management Improvement Support Project is co-funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and being implemented jointly by UNDP and LCBC. It aims to strengthen the capacities of the LCBC and its five-member states to achieve an ecosystem-based, integrated and resilient management of the Lake Chad Basin. This increased regional collaboration will create a conducive environment for the implementation of the Lake Chad Strategic Action Program and will support the direct involvement of communities in solving key challenges of the region.
The broad range of activities are to improve the availability and accessibility of data and information on water and ecosystems, to facilitate community demonstration activities, and to conduct pre-feasibility studies of priority investments to reduce stress on the Lake Chad resources.
